Zoloft

Zoloft (sertraline) is intended for people diagnosed with depression, panic attacks, obsessive-compulsive disorder and social anxiety disorder, but can be also used by women with premenstrual dysphoric disorder with symptoms as irritability, mood swings and breast tenderness. Zoloft can be prescribed in the form of a tablet or liquid. Unless your health care provider recommended otherwise you should take it once a day, in the morning or in the evening. The routine can be slightly different if you are taking this medicine for the treatment of premenstrual dysphoric disorder, so make sure you listen carefully to all the instructions provided by your doctor. Depending on the results of the thorough medical examination your doctor will conduct you may be started on a lower dose of this medicine, but it can later be increased to suit your needs. To make sure you remember about your dosage take it at the same time every day with a full glass of water. If you are currently taking monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitors or pimozide you will probably be required to wait for two weeks before you can safely take Zoloft. Talk to your health care provider about the options, but never combine Zoloft with MAO inhibitors to avoid serious health consequences.
